Benefits “To Do” Checklist
In your first month:
Enroll in your health & insurance benefits within 31 days of your date of hire. These include:
- Medical coverage provided by UnitedHealthcare
- Prescription drug coverage provided by CVS Caremark (included with health plan enrollment)
- Dental coverage provided by MetLife
- Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
- Optional life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance
Note: If you were hired after October 1, 2024, you will need to elect benefits for 2024 (to be covered for the remainder of the 2024 calendar year) and 2025 (to have coverage starting January 1). Both elections can be made during the same enrollment session on NetBenefits.
To enroll, log on to netbenefits.com/Unilever or call the Unilever Benefits Service Center at Fidelity at 1-800-797-2363. You can also download the NetBenefits app and enroll via your smartphone or tablet. The Decision Support Tool—brought to you by Fidelity—can help simplify the process of choosing the medical plan that best fits your needs.
Important: If you do not make elections within 31 days of your date of hire, you will not have any health and insurance coverage through Unilever until the next Annual Enrollment opportunity.
At any point:
401(k) Plan
You're immediately eligible to enroll in the UNICare Savings Plan. You can make pretax, Roth and/or after-tax contributions up to IRS limits, and Unilever will match the first 5% of contributions you make each pay period. Choose from among a broad range of investments and make changes to your contributions and investments at virtually any time. Be on the lookout for more information on the Plan.
To enroll, log on to netbenefits.com/Unilever or call the Unilever Benefits Service Center at Fidelity at 1-800-797-2363. You can also download the NetBenefits app and enroll via your smartphone or tablet.
Each November:
Enroll in Unilever’s global employee share plan, SHARES, which offers eligible employees an easy way to save money every month to buy Unilever shares. See the Global Employee Share Plan section below for more information about this opportunity.
You can enroll and/or make elections each November—and if you are eligible to enroll—you’ll be notified via email prior to each annual enrollment period. When it’s time to enroll, log on to netbenefits.com/Unilever and click Enroll under the Unilever SHARES Plan.
Automatic Benefits
- Disability insurance. Unilever provides both short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD) coverage for income protection in case of a covered illness or injury. STD is fully paid by Unilever and covers you at a percentage of your pre-disability base pay. Basic LTD coverage is also fully paid by Unilever and covers you at 40% of your pre-disability base pay in the event you cannot work for a prolonged period of time because of illness or injury. You can also choose to increase your coverage to 60%, paying for the additional 20% of coverage through payroll deductions. Learn more.
- Life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance. Unilever provides company-paid basic life insurance at either two (2) times your yearly base salary, or a flat $50,000 amount. You can choose the level of basic life insurance you would like. Learn more.
- Emotional Wellbeing Solutions. If you or a loved one has feelings of anxiety, stress, isolation or depression, you’re not alone. Many people face emotional and mental health struggles and may need help to cope. How you feel matters. And the way you learn to cope matters too. Behavioral health programs and resources are available to help you feel better and help you get back to being you. Behavioral health care includes mental health care with a focus on a person’s behaviors and habits as well as treatment for substance use. Learn more here.
Global Employee Share Plan
Eligible Work Level 1 employees have an exciting opportunity to own part of Unilever and make a long-term investment in their future!
SHARES, Unilever’s global employee share plan, offers eligible employees an easy way to save money each month to buy Unilever shares. If you enroll, you can save cash from your salary on a monthly basis, which will then be used to buy Unilever shares each quarter.
Buy 3, get 1 free! At the end of each quarter, the company will award you the right to receive one free share for every three shares you purchase. You must hold on to the shares you purchase for at least three years, and then the free shares are yours to keep.
